It isn’t the Pyrenees, but I can dream, can’t I?

My bicycling buddy Jim Lawrence has been teaching bicycle safety in Albany elementary schools for several years now. The classes are easy and practical. They teach kids the rules of the road.

I thought about Jim through a fog of outrage a couple of times yesterday and again this morning. Stan and I and Radler were out for a Sunday drive when we saw a young mom and her daughter riding carefully but wrongfully in a bike lane near Heritage Mall — going against traffic, no helmets. Later in the afternoon, I was pulling onto Price Road from the Fair & Expo Center and had to slam to a stop to narrowly miss another young mom and two kids this time, coming toward me the wrong way in the bike lane. Helmets? Ha…
